Android 4.4 Factory Images Now Available For All Modern Nexus devices

Nexus 4 Android 4.4 KitKat

If you happen to be one of the millions of people out there that own a modern Nexus device, now would be a good time to stop what you’re doing, whip out a USB cable and fire up ADB on your PC, because Google has released the Android 4.4 factory images for the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets. Today’s release brought my Nexus 4 up to build number KRT160 and is a good indicator that we can expect to see an over-the-air update for each of the Nexus devices in the very near future.

One of my favorite perks of owning Nexus devices is these factory restore images. With them, you’re basically guaranteed that no matter how badly you may have screwed up the software on your Nexus, you can always restore it back to out of the box condition. Factory images for Nexus devices are also a great way to get the latest software without waiting for it to arrive via an OTA update. It took me around 5 minutes from the time that I saw these images had released to having the latest software up and running on my phone. Who has the patience to wait for an OTA? Not me.

If you’re as impatient as I am, head on over to Google’s Factory Image Download Page and enjoy.
