AT&T LG Optimus G upgrade to Jelly Bean now available
Reports of an over-the-air upgrade to Jelly Bean arriving to a few, lucky owners of the AT&T branded LG Optimus G began popping up yesterday, but we didn’t hear anything official. Until now any way. AT&T has just officially confirmed the availability of a OTA update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
The update brings enhanced performance thanks to Project Butter and new features such as improved notifications, Google Now and the ISIS Mobile Wallet application. AT&T also took the opportunity to announce that the LG Optimus G is the “official mobile device of NCAA March Madness.” Which means LG Optimus G owners will be able to use the March Madness Live app to tune into games as they happen. You’ll need to log in with your television provider’s details to fully unlock the potential of this app, but there is a four hour long preview available for those that just want to check it out.
Just in case you’re unsure how to upgrade the Optimus G to the latest version of Android, I’ll go ahead and explain the process here. First, you’ll need to make sure your Optimus G is connected to a WiFi network. Once that is taken care of, open Settings – General – About phone – Software Update – Update. The OTA update will then download and install. The entire process should take around 5 to 10 minutes depending on your connection speed.
