BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha receives it’s first OS update, brings BlackBerry App World!

Developers with a BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha have something to be excited about today. RIM has just released a highly anticipated update that brings the Dev Alpha to software version 10.0.6.361 or 10.0.6.368. I’m not sure why there is two version numbers floating around, but I have .368 on my Dev Alpha and have heard from others with the older build. Either way, the update requires the use of a PC and the new beta version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

The latest version of the OS features updates to the BlackBerry 10 developer tool kits and brings BlackBerry App World to the Dev Alpha. This will give developers with the phone access to apps made by their peers and will allow them to test each others apps.

Detailed instructions on how to update the Dev Alpha are available here. But be warned; a lot of developers are reporting that they are unable to get the new software update. RIM believes they have identified the cause of the problems and are currently working on a solution.
