Casio announces their rugged V-T500 Android 4.0 tablet
Casio has announced a new ruggedized Android 4.0 tablet which will be available in WiFi only and radio equipped versions. Casio’s V-T500 is a ten-inch tablet that is designed specifically for users in environments where extreme drop protection and moisture and dust resistance are required.
The Casio V-T500 features a 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4460 processor and 1GB worth of RAM. For ports, Casio included one full-sized USB and one mini USB port as well as a mini HDMI output. Other hardware specs include front and rear 5 megapixel cameras, 16GB worth of built in storage, SD card slot, 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0. Interestingly enough, the V-T500 also includes a user-replaceable battery. Casio has said that the battery will provide 10 to 12 hours of use per charge.
The tablet will be available in two versions. The V-T500E which is Wi-Fi only and the V-T500GE that includes HSPA/UMTS/EDGE and GPRS support. Casio hasn’t announced a release date or pricing information for the V-T500 series yet, but we will let you know once they do.
