Google Launches Google Drive
Google has released it’s long-rumored cloud storage service. Google Drive will integrate with other Google services, such as Google Docs, for a seamless experience. Users will have the ability to collaborate in real time with other users and can leave comments on anything that has been uploaded.
Google Drive installs as a client onto your computer, and can sync any of your Google Docs items, which will provide offline access to your synced files. Google Drive also allows for the searching of text in scanned images and items in photos by using Optical Character Recognition. An example of this feature is the ability to find an uploaded photo of the Grand Canyon by searching for “Grand Canyon”. Google Drive includes 5GB of free storage, If you need more space there are a few paid options available. For $2.49 per month you can get 25GB, $4.99 per month will give you 100Gb and a full terabyte of storage will set you back $49.99 per month. Included with a paid Google Drive account is a Gmail storage increase to 25GB
