Google’s Nexus 4 gets a price drop; $199 for 8GB – $249 for 16GB

Google’s latest Nexus smartphonethe LG-made Nexus 4, was easily one of the best values around when it launched almost a year ago at the ridiculously affordable prices of either of $299 (8GB) or $349 (16GB) off contract. Pretty much everyone took notice of what Google and LG had accomplished and the Nexus 4 sold out immediately after it went on sale and was hard to get for several weeks after.

I was lucky enough to get in on the first batch offered up for sale and I have absolutely loved the phone every since I first received it back in Novemember of last year. In my opinion, the Nexus 4 is still one of the best Android smartphones available today, and today’s news only makes the device an even better value.

For the first time, Google has lowered their price for the Nexus 4 by $100. Meaning that today’s Nexus 4 price drop brings the 16GB model down to $249 and the 8GB version down to just $199. In other words, you can now buy a contract free, Nexus 4 for the same price as most on contract smartphones.

We haven’t found out why Google has decided to lower the Nexus 4’s price now, but we’re hoping it has something to do with the next Nexus smartphone making an official appearance soon. Either way, today’s news should be exciting for anyone that is looking for a great deal on a very capable smartphone.

The Google Nexus 4 is available for purchase directly from the Google Play Store
