Android 4.2.1 OTA update now rolling out to Nexus 4 and Nexus 10

This morning, I woke up, made myself some breakfast and grabbed my phones to begin checking my messages and news feeds. Much like I do any other morning. But today, I discovered an unexpected, yet pleasant surprise. It was an over-the-air update for my Nexus 4, just sitting there, waiting for me to install it. In my opinion, a device update is always a good start to the day.

The latest OTA update brings the Nexus 4 to Android 4.2.1 and according to XDA Forums, the Nexus 10 is receiving this update as well. There is no word on when the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus will get Android 4.2.1, but I’m sure we will find out more soon and I’ll update this post once we do.

Android 4.2.1 appears to be a minor update. The only changes I’ve noticed with this update so far is a fix for the December bug. For those that may not have heard- Google some how forgot to include December in the People app for Android 4.2. Which made it impossible to choose December as a contact’s birthday or anniversary.  Thankfully, the Calendar app featured all 12 months, and allowed you to set appointments in the month of December.

The over-the-air update is being rolled out in phases, so don’t worry if it hasn’t made it’s way to your device yet. If you’re an advance user and not in the waiting kind of mood, you can download the update directly from Google and flash it to your device yourself.
