Samsung ATIV Odyssey now available from Verizon Wireless – $50 Windows Phone 8 Headset

Samsung ATIV Odyssey

Samsung’s first Windows Phone 8 handset, the ATIV Odyssey, is now available from Verizon Wireless for just $49.99 with a new two-year agreement and after a mail-in rebate/on-line discount.

We’ve been hearing about the Samsung ATIV Odyssey for a few months now. It was originally supposed to be available in late November of last year, but something caused the Odyssey to miss that release date and it ended up launching today instead.

As the affordable price would suggest, the Samsung ATIV Odyssey is a mid-range device. It features a 4 inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 1 Gb worth of Ram, a 5 megapixel rear camera, 1.2 megapixel front camera, 8 Gb of internal storage, a 2100 mAh battery and of course, Verizon 4G LTE connectivity. Not too shabby when you consider that the Odyssey costs just 50 bucks.

Today’s release of the Samsung ATIV Odyssey brings Verizon’s line-up of Windows Phone 8 offerings to three devices in total. It will be interesting to see how well the Odyssey competes with headsets like the Nokia Lumia 822 and the HTC 8X, which have both been on Verizon for a few months now.
