Verizon Wireless launching it’s 200th 4G LTE market today

Verizon Wireless announced their plan to have 400 4G LTE markets in the US before the end of 2012 a few months ago and after today they will be more than half way there. Verizon has been consistently adding new markets and expanding on the ones already in place for a while now. But what makes the work being done today so newsworthy is the fact that the carrier will have launched their 200th 4g LTE market.

By the end of today Verizon Wireless will have launched seven new markets and expanded in 17 pre-existing markets. With the addition of these new markets, Verizon will be well on their way to meeting their goal of 400 LTE markets by the end of 2012. Great news considering moving forward the carrier plans to launch only 4g LTE compatible smartphones and tablets. The full list of new markets and expansions is as follows:

“Dothan and Enterprise, Ala.; Naples, Fla.; Greenville, N.C.; Altus and Durant, Okla.; and Longview/Marshall, Texas. The company will also expand its 4G LTE network in Washington, D.C.; Elkhart, Ind.; Baltimore, Md.; Columbus, Miss.; Northern N.J.; Wilmington, N.C.; Duncan, Okla.; Allentown/Bethlehem, Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Scranton/Wilkes Barre, Pa.; Hilton Head, S.C.; Cleveland, Tenn.; Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas; and Kenosha, Madison and Milwaukee, Wis.”
